II.

At the corner of 8th and God Street
I met you, blistering comet
Heady did I find myself...
silenced in your wake

Stumbling, staggering
dropping friends to the asphalt
while fear and filth lingered
echoes in your mind

A plea to whisk away
to leave a boorish lout
for favor of enigma
and promise of anything more

Cheek upon a thigh
a wanton dare
starved to death
heart to throat was nigh

We swallowed the moon
spat out the sun
and birthed Forever there
fruit upon the Vine
