He Said, She Said

He has her wings in a jar
and it doesn't seem to bother him
and he says she could be a star
but no-one seems to notice them
he said she said..."I loved you though they didn't know you then"

She's had her day in the sun
-how she feels when she's alone with him
and that day seems so long ago
she wants to feel that shine again
he said she said..."I promised I'd never leave you then"

Climbing over the mountains of broken promises
-things we never meant to say-
isn't quite as easy as to turn and just walk away
-or maybe that's just me-
All my castles of sand the tide will come and wash away
-and there I'll stand-
with the memories of what we were running through
the cracks in my hands...

There'll be flowers on the grave
of a blinding flame no-one could save
a fading glimpse of too much soul
all she could give is what she gave
he said she said..."I loved you, though you didn't know me then"
