,A Love Affair

I unearthed the moon
I didn't go looking for her-
She found me

Feet digging trails
behind me
Lead too heavy
to lift

Fatigued-breadcrumb-trail
Trenches of the days'
Psychic lashes

Exhaustion harness
Burden bridle
Lament, unforgiving bit

Just prior
to the apex
longing to be
utterly spent

One-eighty turn
driving down
full...bore...descent

The ruts of trudging
Chutes of convenience
race me toward
The Source

Stumbling near
where I began
My face plants
mercilessly downward

Gravel-palms
Bloodied-knees
Rolling over to
catch a breath

And looking up
She laughs at me
And I, in turn,
At she
